We are proud to announce that we have re-hired Brett Sonne as an assistant coach. He is from Maple Ridge and he previously served on our coaching staff from 2021/22 through 2023/24, being a key staff member of the first win of our 3-Peat Championships!
He has distinguished junior, international, and professional hockey careers. Brett played in the WHL and is the 5th member of our coaching staff to have professional playing experience! Having Brett re-join our organization is another massive commitment to provide the very best junior hockey experience for our athletes!
Brett has a successful hockey resume. He played his junior hockey in the WHL with the Calgary Hitmen collecting 171 PTS in 226 games. He represented Canada internationally three times and captured gold medals at the 2008 Ivan Hlinka U18 World Championship and the 2009 World Junior Championship. He won the 2009 WHL Player of the Year award. He was drafted 85th overall in the 2007 NHL entry draft by the St. Louis Blues. Brett played in 271 AHL games and played 5 years professionally in Europe. He has also coaching experience at the junior level and has spent the previous 2 seasons with the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL. We are thrilled to have Brett re-join our organization and to have him work with our athletes as they pursue their goals and aspirations.
