The Ridge Meadows Flames are excited to announce Mike Legg as the next Head Coach of the Ridge Meadows Flames.
Mike is no stranger to our program and the entire Ridge Meadows community. Mike has been on our coaching staff since the 2018/19 season as an Assistant Coach and has coached various teams – particularly the RMMHA U18 A1 team – in RMMHA since the 2017/18 season. Mike is also involved with BC Hockey in the program delivery of the High Performance 1 coaching certification course.
Mike has an extensive hockey resume. He played four years of NCAA Division 1 hockey with the University of Michigan which included several highlights, some being: scoring the famous “Michigan” goal in the 1996 playoffs, and being a member of the 1996 National Championship winning team. He was drafted by the New Jersey Devils of the NHL. He also has 6 years of professional playing experiences across several leagues: Finnish Elite League, IHL, CHL, WPHL, WCHL, and ECHL.
Mike is a member of Burnaby Fire Department and is an extensive volunteer in the Ridge Meadows community. He is a strong communicator and team builder with a unique hockey background as a player and coach with specialties both in on-ice and off-ice developmental skills.
We are excited to welcome Mike his wife Sara and children Abby, Emme, and Maxx to this new chapter as our head coach.
